If you’re fortunate enough to have a bay window or a recessed corner, that’s an ideal location. A spot near a window provides natural daylight, which is great for daytime reading. For built-in window benches, make sure the padding is thick enough to support extended reading sessions. A small side table—or even a sturdy box—nearby will give you a spot to set down a warm drink or your current read.

Add warmth and texture with a cozy throw blanket and a couple of plush pillows. Layering fabrics not only makes the area feel more inviting but also creates visual interest.
If your budget allows, a small area rug—especially one with vintage or boho patterns—can tie the space together beautifully and make the nook feel distinct from the rest of the room.

If your nook is near a window, sheer curtains can filter sunlight and give the area a soft, dreamy glow. For evening use, include a table lamp or reading light. Want to add a bit of enchantment? Battery-operated fairy lights or flameless candles are safe and ambient additions.
Finally, personalize your corner with small touches: hang artwork you love, place a plant or vase of dried flowers nearby, and include trinkets that make you smile. The more your reading space reflects your style, the more you’ll want to spend time there.
Even in the smallest spaces, a little creativity goes a long way. With thoughtful arrangement and a few cozy accents, you can carve out a peaceful place to relax, reflect, and get lost in your favorite books—all without needing a full renovation.
